Takahashi Hiroshi (高橋汎)

Hiroshi TAKAHASHI (1932 -) is a Noh actor of the Konparu school of shite-kata (lead actors).

He was born in Yamatokoriyama City, Nara Prefecture in 1932. His father is a doctor of internal medicine. He was apprenticed to Nobutaka KONPARU, the 79th head of the school, and Hachijo KONPARU, the 78th head of the school. He is the first disciple of Nobutaka KONPARU the 79th. He made his debut as a player of a child's part in "Funa Benkei" (Benkei in the Boat) in 1942. Then, he performed "Midare" (The Drunken Elf), "Dojoji" (Dojo-ji Temple), "Okina" (The Old Man), "Shishi" (mythical lion), "Teika" (The Vine of Teika), and "Sotoba Komachi" (Komachi on the Gravepost). About that time, at the age of 35, he moved to Tokyo with his family. He was designated as Important Intangible Cultural Property (Noh Play) in 1975. He participated in the Noh performance held in Montreal, Canada in 1992. He received the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays in 2002.

Supervisor of the Association for Japanese Noh Plays and Chief Director of the Konparu Enmai-kai.
